The Evangelical Layman's Church (ELC) first formed in South Korea, then grew throughout other countries around the world including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Philippines, Ghana and many more. Today these regional chapters continue the work of spreading the gospel.
Beginning
In the 1960’s, ELC first formed in South Korea. About 150 people attended the very first Bible conference on a farm about an hour’s drive from the city of Daegu. In the 1970’s an overseas organization called The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) responded positively to our work and allowed us to use their broadcasting station for spreading the gospel. At this time we were called the Korean Layman’s Evangelical Fellowship. By the late 1970’s ELC took root in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and over the years grew throughout other countries around the world.
Spreading the Gospel
ELC continues its work through missions in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas with its partner, The Word Forum, which provides ELC’s sermons, lectures and books in more than twenty languages to countries throughout the world.
Today
For over 20 years, ELC has held annual international Bible conferences at the Anseong World Mission Center in Korea where people attend from all over the world. Since early 2020, the center has remained closed for Bible conferences and gatherings due to Covid-19, but where possible we have continued to hold conferences online.
